ilberries Smallholding is situated in the parish of Rushbury in Apedale which is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) called the Shropshire Hills. We moved in October 2009 with the intention of being as self sufficient as possible within 5 years.
W
e brought our 9 chickens with us from Wolverhampton who supply us with great tasting eggs. We are always increasing the flock by incubating eggs to replace birds, the cockerels and drakes either go for sale on the 'For Sale' page or go in the freezer! Some of our hens lay blue or green shelled eggs :-) We have also incubated quail eggs and have many quail.
On the poultry front we have:
- Numerous chickens of different breeds
- 4 Cayuga ducks (including 1 Cayuga drake)
- 2 Runner ducks
- 30+ Quail

e collected two Large Black pigs on 27th May 2011, take a look at Our Large Black Pigs page for information, photos and video. The Large Black pig has recently been classified as the rarest UK breed of pig. We haven't decided on other breeds although we do have our favourites. The Middle White breed is a very high possibility though :-)

ext on the list, in no particular order, we will be looking to have some Shropshire sheep, pygmy goats, geese, turkeys, more chickens, more quail and guinea fowl to breed for meat and/or to sell on. Any stock we have for sale will be advertised on the 'For Sale' page before anywhere else.
